One Veteran • One Step • One New Life
Our Mission
Follow Me is dedicated to ending veteran homelessness by connecting former service members with housing, resources, and peer support rooted in shared military experience.
We believe every veteran who served this country deserves a safe place to call home.”
How We Help
Through our Veterans Helping Veterans peer support model, we connect veterans with housing resources, benefits navigation, and one-on-one mentorship from those who understand the journey firsthand. Whether you are facing homelessness, working through recovery, or simply need someone who has been there, we are here to walk beside you.
Meet Our Founder
Larry Hooks Jr. founded Follow Me Veterans Foundation with a belief that veterans are best served by people who have walked the same road. After early childhood in Watts, his family moved to South Central Los Angeles when he was in third grade. He graduated from Crenshaw High School in 1990 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1991, serving with the 101st Airborne Division and earning the rank of Sergeant.
His journey through addiction and recovery shaped a renewed purpose: helping fellow veterans move from crisis toward stability. Sober since January 25, 2024, Larry brings lived experience, peer support, and a commitment to walking beside others.
Our Goal
Follow Me Veterans Foundation exists to end the cycle of homelessness among veterans in Los Angeles City and County. We are building a peer support model, Veterans Helping Veterans, that connects those who have served with the resources, stability, and community they need to rebuild their lives. Our approach is simple in principle and rigorous in practice: one veteran, one step, one new life at a time. We aim to create a sustainable pathway from crisis to stability, drawing on the lived experience of veterans themselves to guide that journey.
Let’s connect.
